The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Syndicate Accounting and Reporting, you will oversee the full financial controllership duties for our three managed syndicates, managing agent, and corporate member. This includes:
- Overseeing the ledger controllership process, including reviewing, producing, maintaining, reconciling, and analysing accounting ledgers.
- Financial analytics and business partnership with business units on KPIs and result management.
- Comprehensive external/internal reporting function.
- Communicating and collaborating with different areas of the business such as actuarial, underwriting, risk and compliance, and group finance.
- Overseeing Finance projects, including ongoing improvements for IFRS 17 and implementation of controls framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the ledger accounting process, including preparing the Syndicate accounting ledgers and completing the GL Close at the end of every month, quarter, and year.
- Prepare management reports and analyse business unit performance.
- Manage the timely production and review of Lloyd’s quarterly and annual regulatory returns, annual reports and accounts, and IFRS statutory reporting.
- Ensure BU financials are correct in the ledgers and any gaps are reported to BU leads.
- Prepare components of Board reporting and assist management in presenting HSL finance to the board.
- Ensure internal deadlines for group financial reporting schedules are met.
- Function as a key point of contact for the Syndicate auditors and manage the resolution of audit issues.
- Ensure group accounting policies are adhered to while performing accounting and reconciliations.
- Identify areas for process improvement and follow through to implementation.
- Manage, coach, and develop the Syndicate Accounting & Reporting team.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience Required:
- Significant experience within the Lloyd's market, specifically in syndicate accounting, reporting, and regulatory environments.
- Extensive experience of Lloyd's reporting requirements.
- Proven people leadership experience.
- Experience operating in a management and oversight capacity.
- Experience working with offshore or distributed teams.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Excellent IT skills, including experience of accounting ledgers and reporting tools.
