About the Role
We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic people, preferably with school photography experience (but not essential as full training is provided), in a term‑time permanent role and also on a zero‑hours contract to work with our friendly team in Newport. H Tempest Ltd is the nation’s largest school photography company with over 500 employees. Our Head Office and Laboratory is based in St Ives, Cornwall and our Photographers are resident throughout the UK.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent all‑round customer service experience for clients.
- Maintain a strong relationship with the current client base and enjoy meeting new people.
- Make everyone smile, from babies and children to adults.
- Be enthusiastic, energetic and professional in demeanor.
- Be capable of working both as part of a small team and independently.
- Be flexible in working times; early starts are sometimes necessary, particularly through the autumn term.
- Have experience photographing in schools an advantage but not essential.
- Have more than twelve months of driving experience with a full UK licence and be happy to travel.
- Agree to undergo a DBS check and provide two referees prior to starting.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Enthusiastic and energetic with a pleasant manner and professional demeanor.
- Experience in photography, preferably school photography (training provided if not).
- Drives with a full UK licence and at least 12 months of experience.
- Willingness to undergo DBS check.
Term‑Time Permanent Role Benefits
- Term‑time work: Enjoy school holidays, weekends and quieter times of the academic year when there is little or no photography.
- Starting monthly salary: £765 per month, with performance‑related reviews and possible increments every six months for the first two years of service.
- Commission is generated from the sale of photographs taken by you. If your commission exceeds your annual salary, a balancing payment is due.
- Opportunity to earn extra money during quieter periods with our university graduation team.
- Company vehicle: A taxed, insured and maintained company vehicle may be provided, to be discussed at interview.
- Equipment: Full photographic equipment is provided.
- Expense reimbursement: We reimburse all authorized business‑related expenses.
- Pension scheme: Enroll in the pension scheme after three months of service (opt‑in sooner).
- Life cover becomes available from 1st August after one year’s service.
- Professional training: Full training at start of employment and ongoing training and support. Training includes Health & Safety and Manual Handling, plus field‑based training for the role.
Zero‑Hours Contract Benefits
- Term‑time work: Zero‑hours contract covering the busiest periods mainly from September to the end of November and Easter to the end of June.
- Daily rate: ÂŁ120 per day / ÂŁ60 per half day.
- Commission is generated from the sale of photographs taken by you. If your commission exceeds your salary, a balancing payment is due.
- Company vehicle: Typically not provided but may be discussed at interview.
- Equipment: Full photographic equipment is provided.
- Expense reimbursement: We reimburse all authorized business‑related expenses.
