Main Purpose of the Role: This role is the cornerstone of technical strategy and our global reputation. As Technical Director, you will:
- Define and safeguard the quality, compliance, and integrity of all learning products, consultancy services, and assessments.
- Ensure programmes meet or exceed standards set by NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA, and other awarding/regulatory bodies.
- Drive innovation, set the technical vision, and lead specialist teams across the lifecycle of programme design, delivery, and assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical strategy aligned with industry standards, regulatory updates, and awarding‑body requirements.
- Serve as the senior authority for NEBOSH, IOSH, and IEMA programmes.
- Oversee the quality of all learning content, assessments, marking guides, and digital materials.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory and awarding bodies (NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA, BOHS).
- Respond to HSE, ISO 45001, and wider industry changes.
- Ensure internal QA processes meet accreditation standards.
- Provide expert leadership to technical, consultancy, and quality teams.
- Guide innovation in course development, CPD creation, and digital‑first learning.
- Represent the organisation at industry forums, qualification review boards, and professional networks.
- Oversee high‑value client projects and complex escalations.
- Manage internal and external audits (NEBOSH, ISO 9001/45001, EQA).
- Track industry trends, emerging risks, and legislative changes.
- Mentor tutors, assessors, and technical specialists.
- Drive commercial value through resource planning and quality‑focused cost control.
- Lead budget planning and contribute to wider strategic goals.
What We’re Looking For – Essential:
- Commerciality with client‑focused solutions
- HSE leadership experience (NEBOSH‑accredited training centres or consultancy)
- In‑depth knowledge of NEBOSH Diploma syllabi, marking criteria, and assessment methods
- Familiarity with IOSH, ISEP, BOHS, and other awarding frameworks
- Expertise in global HSE legislation, risk management, accident investigation, and safety management systems
- Experience managing technical, consultancy, or quality teams
- Proven delivery of high‑stakes assessments and accredited programmes
- Ability to interpret and apply standards (ISO 45001, ISO 9001)
- Chartered status (CMIOSH, CEnv, FIIRSM, etc.)
- Experience as NEBOSH examiner, IOSH reviewer, or EQA auditor
- Experience leading digital transformation in HSE learning/assessment
- Engaging with senior clients across high‑risk industries (construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, transport)
