Your Role

As Yard Supervisor, you'll take a leading role in ensuring the efficient, safe and smooth operation of our yard. You'll motivate and guide the team, support day-to-day operations, and maintain a well-organised, professional environment that keeps customers coming back.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily yard activities including team coordination, customer service, and stock management
  • Ensure all health & safety practices are followed, creating a safe environment for staff and visitors
  • Carry out staff performance reviews and support development through training and mentoring
  • Approve team leave requests and manage cover in line with business needs
  • Welcome and assist customers, offering product knowledge and ensuring efficient order fulfilment
  • Support unloading, checking and storing deliveries
  • Assist with regular stock spot-checks and accurate reporting
  • Uphold cleanliness and orderliness across yard and storage areas
  • Report incidents and accidents promptly, following company procedures
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and standards

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong communication, organisational, and team leadership skills
  • Previous supervisory experience, ideally in a yard or trade environment
  • Sound knowledge of health & safety procedures and safe working practices
  • Confidence working outdoors in all weathers and performing manual handling tasks
  • Forklift Truck Licence (Counterbalance) – desirable
  • Experience in a builders' merchant or knowledge of building materials – essential
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to support wherever needed

Job Details:

  • Work Pattern: 7.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday, plus alternate Saturdays 7.30am – 12.30pm

Salary & Benefits:

  • Basic Pay: £33000-36000 per annum, DOE
