Are you a time-served Mechanical Fitter looking for a hands-on role with excellent overtime opportunities? Do you enjoy assembling, maintaining and repairing machinery, plant and production equipment? We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team. This is a practical, workshop-based role suited to someone who takes pride in high-quality work, can read technical drawings and is confident working both independently and as part of a team.
Salary and Benefits:
- £19.26 per hour basic rate
- Overtime available
- Time and a half paid outside normal working hours
- Double time paid on Saturday after 12 noon and all day Sunday
- 25 days' annual leave plus 8 public holidays
- Holiday pay based on average hourly rate over the previous 52 weeks
- One additional day's annual leave for every 7 years' completed service

Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30am or 7:45am to 3:55pm or 4:10pm (Includes a 10-minute paid tea break and 25-minute unpaid lunch break)
- Friday: 7:30am or 7:45am to 12:30pm or 12:45pm (Includes a 10-minute paid tea break)
To meet short-term business requirements, you may occasionally be required to work day shift, night shift or back shift. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing machinery, plant and production equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Putting together machine parts and mechanical assemblies
- Building production equipment and machinery
- Working with minimal supervision where required
- Identifying and resolving mechanical issues
- Supporting continuous improvement and working with a zero-defect mindset
- Being flexible to support overtime or changing business needs when required
We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical and proactive, with a strong mechanical background.
Qualifications:
- A time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical Fitting or a similar discipline
- Experience assembling, maintaining or repairing mechanical equipment
- Willingness to work overtime at short notice
There may also be opportunities to support our in-situ machining squad during busy periods. This work may involve travelling to sites across the UK and occasionally abroad. It typically offers a higher rate, generally around 1.5 times the machine shop rate, with 10 to 12-hour working days.
