Are you looking to use your organisation and event co-ordinator skills to make a real impact on the lives of young people? Are you passionate about the STEM subjects? In this role, you will be working with schools, colleges, out-of-school groups, businesses and other organisations to ensure that all young people in the area have the opportunity to understand the variety of STEM careers available to them if they pursue and achieve qualifications in STEM subjects.
Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 per annum
Time off in Lieu: flexible working system
Location: Home-based, with 4 days a month at LEBC's City Centre office with free parking
Responsibilities:
- Support and develop relationships with teachers in Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Further Education Colleges and out-of-school groups.
- Grow the number of STEM activity requests received from teachers and out-of-school group organisers.
- Organise and facilitate teacher and STEM Ambassador network meetings or events.
- Support and build on existing relationships with volunteer STEM Ambassadors and STEM organisations.
- Recruit new companies and STEM Ambassadors to extend the range of occupations represented.
- Support and develop individual STEM Ambassadors, including induction and training.
- Collect evaluation data on STEM Ambassadors activities as required.
- Work closely with local and regional STEM Partners to grow STEM Ambassadors' involvement in STEM inspiration activities.
- Record all data on the STEM Learning Digital Platform.
- Carry out other duties and report progress as required.
The post holder will be home-based, with travel to LEBC's office in Leicester on a regular basis. The post holder should be willing to travel extensively to schools and other sites across the East Midlands. On occasion, there may be a requirement to attend meetings and training further afield. Expenses will be paid in accordance with LEBC guidelines.
Personal Specification:
- Minimum of GCSE's grade C and above in English, Maths & Science.
- A Levels or Degree equivalent in a STEM subject highly desirable.
- Experience in planning, arranging and leading events for small and large groups.
- Ability to work to targets and work effectively and accurately under pressure.
- Excellent and engaging communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to use all Microsoft Office applications proficiently.
- Knowledge of the school STEM curriculum and education sector issues.
Job Circumstances:
- Successful applicants must have a current driving license and insurance cover for business purpose use.
- Willingness to work outside normal hours and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
