Bibi Contracts is a growing bespoke furniture manufacturing and upholstery company looking for an experienced Furniture Upholsterer to join our small, close-knit workshop team near Kimpton, Hitchin.

About the Role
This is a hands-on workshop position producing bespoke furniture for hospitality, commercial and residential clients.
You could be working on restaurant booths and banquette seating one day and bespoke sofas, chairs or other made-to-measure furniture the next.
You will work closely with our carpentry and preparation team, using drawings, measurements and specifications to produce furniture to a high standard.
We are looking for someone who can work confidently and independently while also enjoying being part of a small team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Upholster bespoke sofas, chairs, booths, banquette seating and other furniture
- Carry out re-upholstery and refurbishment work
- Measure, cut and prepare fabric, foam and other upholstery materials
- Stitch and prepare components using an industrial sewing machine
- Work accurately from drawings, measurements and specifications
- Use upholstery tools and machinery safely and effectively
- Check completed work and maintain high-quality standards
- Work closely with carpenters and other workshop colleagues
- Keep your work area clean, safe and organised
- Work efficiently to meet project deadlines
- Occasionally assist with deliveries and installations at client sites
What We're Looking For
- Previous professional furniture upholstery experience
- Experience using an industrial sewing machine
- Confidence working independently on bespoke furniture
- Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, tools and materials
- Experience working with different fabrics and foams
- Excellent attention to detail
- Pride in producing a high-quality finish
- The ability to work accurately from measurements and drawings
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A reliable and organised approach
- The ability to safely lift and handle furniture and materials
- Your own reliable transport due to the rural workshop location
- Willingness to complete a practical upholstery assessment as part of the interview process
Desirable Experience
- High-end or luxury furniture
- Restaurant booths or banquette seating
- Commercial or hospitality furniture
- Basic carpentry or furniture frame assembly
About Bibi Contracts
Bibi Contracts manufactures and upholsters bespoke furniture for hospitality, commercial and residential clients.
We are a small and friendly team, which means you won't be one person among hundreds or simply another part of a production line.
You will work closely with the wider workshop team, have visibility of the projects you are working on and see your furniture develop from initial production through to the finished piece.
As the business continues to grow, there will also be opportunities to develop your skills and take on greater responsibility.
Location & Hours
Near Kimpton, Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm.
40 hours per week.
Due to the rural workshop location, your own reliable transport is required.
Occasional work at client sites may also be required.
