We are seeking a highly experienced SAP BW/4HANA and BusinessObjects (BO) Architect to lead data and analytics architecture for SAP carve-out/divestiture programs. The role focuses on designing and executing data warehouse separation, reporting transformation, and analytics continuity strategies during complex business separations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in SAP BW (BW on HANA / BW/4HANA), SAP BusinessObjects BI Suite, and strong experience in data migration, system carve-outs, and enterprise reporting transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data & Analytics Architecture Leadership
    • Define the target data architecture for carve-out scenarios, including: BW landscape split or redesign, Reporting and analytics separation strategy.
    • Design scalable BW/4HANA models (InfoObjects, ADSOs, CompositeProviders, Open ODS Views).
    • Architect BO reporting layer including universes (UNX), Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports.
  • Carve-Out Strategy & Data Separation
    • Lead analytics workstream for: Due diligence and data discovery, Day 1 reporting readiness, TSA definition and exit plans.
    • Define approach for: Selective data extraction for carved-out entities, Historic vs. current data retention strategy.
    • Design logical vs. physical system separation strategies: Shell BW systems, New BW/4HANA instance vs. carve-out from existing instance.
  • SAP BW/4HANA Solution Design
    • Lead design and optimization of: Data modeling and ETL/ELT pipelines, Data flows using ODP, SLT, extractors, CDS views.
    • Implement high-performance models leveraging: HANA pushdown, LSA++ architecture principles.
    • Ensure scalability, performance, and future readiness.
  • SAP BusinessObjects (BO) Architecture
    • Design and manage BO reporting landscape: Universe design (IDT/UDT), Web Intelligence, Lumira, Analysis for Office.
    • Handle BO content separation: Universe segregation, Report ownership migration.
    • Ensure security model alignment for carved entities.
  • Data Migration & Transformation
    • Define and execute analytics data migration strategy: Data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and validation.
    • Ensure consistency between: Source systems (ECC/S/4HANA), BW objects and reporting layers.
    • Use tools such as: SAP Data Services, BW Transport Management, LVM (Landscape Transformation).
  • Integration & Source System Management
    • Manage BW integration with: SAP ECC / S/4HANA, Non-SAP data sources (databases, files, APIs).
    • Ensure continuity of data ingestion pipelines during and after separation.
    • Handle source system reconfiguration post carve-out.
  • Testing, Cutover & Deployment
    • Lead: Data reconciliation testing, BI validation (reports, dashboards).
    • Define and execute cutover strategy: Delta data loads, Reporting freeze windows.
    • Support go-live readiness and hypercare support.
  • Security & Compliance
    • Implement and manage: Role-based access control in BW and BO, Data-level security (authorization objects, analysis authorizations).
    • Ensure compliance with: GDPR, data privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder & Program Collaboration
    • Work closely with: Program managers, functional teams, finance/reporting stakeholders, Data governance teams.
    • Conduct workshops to map reporting requirements during separation.
    • Act as trusted advisor for analytics transformation strategy.
  • Performance Optimization & Governance
    • Monitor and optimize: Data load performance, Query execution times.
    • Establish standards for: Naming conventions, Data models, Reporting frameworks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10–12 years of SAP experience with strong focus on: SAP BW (7.x, BW on HANA, BW/4HANA), SAP BusinessObjects BI Suite.
  • Proven experience in SAP carve-out, divestiture, or M&A programs.
  • Strong knowledge of: Data warehousing concepts, SAP data extraction mechanisms, Reporting and analytics architectures.
