Client’s Communications team tells the story of Client’s vibrant communities, showcasing the various ways that people engage with the breadth of content and conversation on the app. As the Consumer Communications Senior Manager, EMEA (contractor position) you will be responsible for helping develop and drive press activity to increase awareness and relevancy of the company, focusing on the UK, Germany, and France. We’re looking for a media-savvy and experienced press manager who can manage multiple workstreams and execute independently with confidence.
This role will partner with other members of the communications team (Corporate, Product, Public Affairs, Ads Business) but will be responsible for managing the day-to-day consumer comms strategy and projects, with support from local agency partners. We are seeking someone who is comfortable working across time zones, managing multiple projects and priorities, and has press-facing experience in our European markets. Responsibilities:- Lead day-to-day consumer communications strategies in EMEA, with a focus on the UK, Germany and France.
- Partner with key stakeholders, including the Director, Global Consumer & Product Comms, to ensure communications strategies align to business objectives.
- Build press stories, brand partnerships, and event opportunities that will drive brand awareness and relevancy for the company and build affinity amongst existing users.
- Identify and develop press pitches, inclusive of newsjacking and feature pitch development.
- Manage European agency activities and relationships - workflow management and queries, reviews and approvals for proactive and reactive stories, reporting, and quarterly reviews.
- Conduct media meetings and activities as needed across priority markets to build relationships.
- Develop press materials as needed - media lists, blog posts, reporter education tools, etc.
- Collect and analyse data and insights to create newsworthy narratives for Company storytelling efforts.
- Manage and oversee the editorial copy and distribution of press newsletters in the UK, Germany, and France, evolving them as needed for effectiveness.
- Build and manage relationships with users and moderators as needed for press stories.
- Partner with Corporate, Public Affairs, Ad Sales/B2B, and Product Communications colleagues on both reactive and proactive announcements, features, and launches.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience working in consumer or brand communications (in-house or agency), with experience executing on campaigns and narratives in the UK, Germany and France.
- Knowledgeable about Client’s platform - you have your favourite communities and conversations.
- English language dominance is required, ideally you also have fluency in German.
- Passion for pop-culture and internet culture with an ability to identify and anticipate story opportunities across various verticals: culture, entertainment, sports, travel, health/wellness, and more.
- You’re plugged in to cultural trends and regularly read lifestyle publications.
- You have a strong media contacts that you can lean on to help identify, build, and create storytelling opportunities with a focus on consumer publications.
- You can work independently, managing multiple workstreams and execute with confidence with an ability to collaborate and share information but also drive projects as needed.
- You are both creative and analytical - adept at spotting inefficiencies and scaling efforts, but are also excited to turn data points and insights into consumer narratives.
- Exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and partners, moderators, users, and journalists.
- You are comfortable working across time zones, with teams across different functions, languages and cultural backgrounds; you have experience managing non-English agency teams.
