Build Something From The Ground Up. This is not a role maintaining legacy systems. This is an opportunity to design, build and own a modern enterprise data platform from day one, shaping the future of data, analytics and decision-making for a fast-growing technology business operating in a highly regulated and data-rich environment.

We're looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer who thrives on creating scalable solutions, influencing technical direction and delivering genuinely business-critical outcomes. You'll be the driving force behind the evolution of a Microsoft Fabric-powered data ecosystem, working closely with senior leadership to establish architecture, engineering standards and long-term strategy.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own the Data Platform
  • Design and implement a modern Microsoft Fabric data platform
  • Lead the journey from early-stage capability to a fully production-ready environment
  • Define scalable architecture patterns across warehouse, lakehouse and analytics layers
  • Make key technical decisions that balance immediate delivery with future growth

Engineer Robust Data Solutions

Deliver Business Value

  • Create trusted semantic models and Power BI solutions

  • Enable executive reporting, operational analytics and future advanced analytics use cases
  • Establish consistent business metrics and data definitions

Drive Best Practice

  • Introduce CI/CD, source control and automated deployment processes
  • Implement governance, security and access control frameworks
  • Establish documentation, standards and support models
  • Shape the future roadmap of the organisation's data capability

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering or a similar role
  • Experience building production data warehouses, lakehouses or modern cloud data platforms
  • Strong Microsoft Fabric expertise, including some of: OneLake, Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, Data Factory, Notebooks, Power BI, Semantic Models, Dataflows
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Python and/or PySpark experience
  • Strong dimensional modelling and data warehousing knowledge
  • Experience building enterprise data pipelines and integrations
  • Power BI development expertise, including DAX and performance optimisation
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD and modern engineering practices
  • Strong understanding of security, governance and data quality
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Why This Opportunity?

  • Fully remote anywhere in the UK
  • Up to Β£130,000 salary
  • Opportunity to build a strategic platform from the ground up
  • High level of ownership and technical influence
  • Greenfield Microsoft Fabric environment
  • Clear pathway to shape architecture, standards and future growth
  • Join a business investing heavily in its data and analytics capability

Ready to lead the creation of a modern data platform rather than inherit one? This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a business-critical Microsoft Fabric estate, make architectural decisions that matter, and create the foundation for data-driven growth at scale. Apply now.
