About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join our client's established injection moulding manufacturing team. This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing product quality standards while supporting the company's continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior Quality Engineer will lead a team of shift Quality Controllers, oversee daily quality operations, and ensure compliance with relevant standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. Reporting directly to the Operations & SHEQ Director, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in resolving quality issues efficiently, managing customer relationships, and driving quality excellence across all production processes.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in production quality within a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastics or related industries.
- A relevant engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, or BEng is desirable.
- Certifications such as Six Sigma Greenbelt are advantageous, demonstrating expertise in process improvement and problem-solving.
- Experience working to ISO accreditation and managing Quality Management Systems (QMS) is essential.
- Candidates should be familiar with internal audit procedures aligned with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 standards and possess a detailed understanding of applying Six Sigma tools for root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- A full UK driving license is required for site visits and customer engagement.
- Strong communication skills, the ability to read engineering drawings, and proficiency in metrological measurement techniques are also necessary.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the Operations Team in achieving quality KPIs and continuous improvement goals.
- Manage daily production quality, support New Product Introduction (NPI), and ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Own and nurture customer relationships by handling complaints, quality queries, and ensuring prompt resolutions.
- Implement and oversee 5S practices across key operational areas to promote a clean and organized workplace.
- Respond to customer quality inquiries, manage the full lifecycle of quality concerns including NCRs, concessions, rework, and 8D investigations.
- Ensure the quality compliance of third-party components and maintain effective communication with suppliers.
- Oversee the product returns process in accordance with RMA procedures, including issuing credit notes and managing stock reallocation.
- Continuously review and improve quality inspection procedures and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead internal audit programs in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards, ensuring timely scheduling, execution, and closure of NCRs.
- Drive and support the in-house 8D problem-solving methodology to resolve complex quality issues.
- Maintain key quality registers and reporting tools to monitor and analyze quality performance metrics.
- Line-manage the Quality Control team, including conducting competency assessments and managing absences; support metrology tasks when required.
- Support the introduction of new business and engineering changes from a quality perspective, ensuring seamless transition and compliance.
- Perform additional duties such as supporting stock takes and other operational activities as required.
