About The Role As a Frontend Engineer at Sainsbury’s Tech, you’ll help shape the digital experiences of millions of UK customers. Working in an agile and collaborative environment, you\’ll design and develop high-performance, user-centric web applications using modern technologies. You\’ll play a crucial role in setting technical direction, implementing architectural standards, and supporting products across the entire software development lifecycle. This is your chance to build scalable, elegant solutions with a real-world impact — backed by a supportive team and one of the most unique data sets in the country. Responsibilities Design and develop responsive and user-friendly frontend applications using React.js, Redux, Redux-Saga, and TypeScript Contribute to the product\’s technical roadmap and help define architectural direction Work with cloud and container technologies including Kubernetes on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform Own software delivery from design through decommissioning, with a strong focus on performance, cost, and scalability Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and back-end engineers Advocate and implement best practices in DevSecOps, Agile, and continuous delivery Qualifications Strong programming skills in JavaScript and React.js Experience with additional technologies such as Swift/iOS, Android, Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot, or Golang Familiarity with architectural principles, cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines Proven track record of developing modern frontend applications at scale Experience with secure software development practices Comfortable working in an Agile/Lean delivery environment Passionate about innovation and committed to continuous improvement Benefits 10% discount at Sainsbury’s, Argos, TU and Habitat after 4 weeks (increases to 15% off at Sainsbury’s every Friday and Saturday, and 15% off at Argos on payday) Up to 10% performance-based bonus Pension scheme and life cover 26 weeks’ maternity/adoption leave and 4 weeks’ paternity leave (at enhanced pay) Annual holiday allowance with the option to buy additional leave Season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, and health cash plans Access to pay in advance and employee assistance programmes A culture that values flexibility, learning, and recognition Equal opportunity Sainsbury’s is a truly inclusive employer.
