About The Role
We are seeking a talented Frontend Engineer to join our Frontend Foundations team at Starling Bank. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our browser-based banking application, the Online Bank. While our mobile app garners significant popularity, our browser platform offers a richer, more immersive banking experience that we are committed to enhancing. As part of our team, you will focus on building user-focused features that leverage the full capabilities of the web platform, ensuring our customers enjoy a seamless, accessible, and engaging digital banking experience. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of design, development, and user experience, contributing to a product that is used daily by thousands of customers across the UK.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of commercial experience in web frontend development. Strong proficiency in core web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is essential, along with experience in API integration using REST or HTTP protocols. Familiarity with TypeScript and modern component-based frameworks like React or similar is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, to ensure high-quality, maintainable code. The ability to take ownership of projects from conception through to delivery, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset, is crucial. Additional skills in web accessibility, backend JavaScript/TypeScript, infrastructure management, and cloud services will be considered advantageous.
