The Opportunity: Hire Controller

Contract: Permanent

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

We are based in North London and have been providing material handling solutions ever since we established ourselves in 1994. Now with more than 25 years' experience, we are the leading forklift supplier for London and the South East. Hiremech is part of The Briggs Equipment Group who are a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland.

As a Hire Controller you will ensure that Briggs Equipment core Values are central to each task carried out on a daily basis:

  • Provide a professional and high level of customer service.
  • Accurate and effective management of deliveries/collections of all equipment for Short Term Hire Department onsite to our clients nationwide daily using the Protean system.
  • Assist and support Sales and Operational teams.

The Impact you will have:

  • Set up hire agreements and allocate equipment, ensuring all internal processes and procedures are followed accurately.
  • Liaise with the Workshop Manager to arrange and coordinate pre-hire inspections of equipment.
  • Plan and schedule the delivery and collection of equipment using the internal transport fleet.
  • Support the day-to-day management and coordination of drivers and transport activities.
  • Assist in the management of company vehicles, ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is prepared, inspected and ready for hire before leaving site for customer delivery.
  • Maintain accurate equipment location records and provide information to engineers carrying out on-site servicing, maintenance or repairs, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
  • Accurately raise and manage hire contracts, ensuring correct on-hire and off-hire dates are recorded within the Protean system.
  • Ensure all contracts that have been off-hired prior to month end are closed promptly and invoiced accordingly.
  • Prepare and issue hire quotations to customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work towards performance targets and objectives set by the Rental and Transport Manager.
  • Provide customers with regular updates on the status of equipment deliveries and collections, delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Take responsibility for your own health and safety, as well as that of your colleagues, ensuring all company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including high-visibility clothing and safety footwear, is worn whenever required.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of materials handling industry.
  • Experience of supervising and advising staff within a depot environment.
  • Experience at departmental level of people management.
