Full-Time On-site
HireIQ
  • Join a highly regarded specialist US/UK tax firm advising American expatriates living in the UK.
  • Work exclusively across both US and UK personal tax, developing genuine dual-handler expertise rather than specialising in one jurisdiction.
  • Manage complex international clients covering cross-border compliance, planning, residency, expatriation and offshore matters.
  • Take ownership of your own client portfolio while working closely with experienced senior tax professionals.
  • Develop your leadership experience through mentoring, reviewing work and taking responsibility for junior team members.
  • Play an active role in the future growth of the firm through strategic projects, automation, client education and business improvements.

Our client is a well-established specialist US/UK tax practice advising American expatriates and internationally mobile individuals. With the business entering its next phase of growth, this is an excellent opportunity to join a highly experienced team offering genuine exposure to complex cross-border personal tax work.

The Role

  • Manage the preparation and review of US and UK individual tax returns, including Forms 1040 and 8938, FBARs and UK Self Assessments.
  • Manage filing deadlines, estimates and extensions for clients with complex multi‑jurisdictional tax affairs.
  • Handle delinquent filing procedures including SFOP, SDOP, Delinquent FBAR procedures and WDFs.
  • Prepare responses to enquiries from the IRS and HMRC.
  • Advise internationally mobile individuals on complex US/UK tax matters.
  • Support planning around investments, cross‑border structures and potentially punitive US and UK tax regimes.
  • Research technical matters and draft advisory memoranda, including work relating to UK residence and the Statutory Residence Test.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, building strong long‑term relationships.
  • Review work completed by junior team members and support their technical development.
  • Take leadership responsibility across tax teams and contribute to wider strategic projects within the business.

Your Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience within US/UK personal tax, expatriate tax or international private client tax.
  • Strong knowledge of both the US and UK individual tax systems.
  • Good understanding of tax treaties, cross‑border taxation and US expatriation rules.
  • Exposure to US taxation of foreign companies, including Form 5471, GILTI and Form 8832 elections, would be beneficial.
  • Ideally EA, ATT or CTA qualified, or currently working towards a relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience managing client relationships and reviewing or supervising junior colleagues.
  • CCH Axcess experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex international tax issues clearly.

The Rewards

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Exposure to technically complex US/UK private client work.
  • Opportunity to become a genuine dual US/UK tax specialist.
  • Significant client ownership and responsibility.
  • Leadership and mentoring opportunities.
  • Involvement in strategic projects and the future development of a growing specialist firm.
  • Clear scope for continued progression as the business expands.
