About the job
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Group Payroll Manager will take ownership of the global payroll function, ensuring payroll operations are delivered accurately, efficiently, and compliantly across multiple jurisdictions.
- Lead and manage the global payroll function across the organisation
- Oversee day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of payroll professionals
- Drive a high-quality payroll experience for employees globally
- Lead payroll process improvement initiatives, focusing on automation, scalability, and efficiency
- Develop and enhance payroll controls, processes, and governance frameworks
- Partner closely with People Operations and wider Finance teams
- Support business growth by establishing payroll processes in new global locations
- Provide payroll expertise on complex global payroll and tax matters
- Deliver payroll reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior finance leadership
- Manage relationships with outsourced payroll providers and ensure service levels are achieved
- Support payroll-related projects and strategic business initiatives
- Ensure payroll systems and processes remain fit for future business growth
Your skills & experience
- Extensive experience within a payroll leadership role (Essential)
- Previous experience managing and developing payroll teams (Essential)
- Experience overseeing global or multi-country payroll operations (Essential)
- Strong payroll controls, compliance, and governance experience (Essential)
- Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge (Essential)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (Essential)
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships across Finance, HR, and external providers
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines
- Hands-on approach with the flexibility to support operational payroll activities when required
- Experience with Workday payroll systems (Desirable)
- Experience within a professional services or technology environment (Desirable)
