The Role

As Private Client Tax Manager, you will manage a varied portfolio of private clients, providing both tax compliance and advisory support. You will work closely with Partners and Directors across a range of personal tax matters, helping clients manage their tax affairs while also identifying planning opportunities.

The role will involve overseeing personal tax compliance, reviewing tax returns, managing client relationships and supporting on advisory projects across areas such as residence and domicile, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, trusts, estates, property tax, succession planning and wealth structuring.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys building long-term client relationships and wants to develop their advisory experience within a high-quality private client tax team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of private clients, including HNWIs, entrepreneurs, business owners, trusts and estates
  • Review personal tax returns, trust tax returns and related compliance work
  • Provide tax advisory support across a range of private client tax matters
  • Advise on areas such as IHT, CGT, residence and domicile, trusts, estates and succession planning
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and deliver commercially focused advice
  • Build strong relationships with clients, families, advisers and internal stakeholders
  • Liaise with HMRC and support clients with tax queries, disclosures and correspondence
  • Manage and mentor junior members of the private client tax team
  • Support Partners and Directors with advisory projects, proposals and client development

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will likely be a qualified tax professional with experience in private client tax within a Practice firm. You may currently be working within a Big 4, Top 10, mid-tier or independent firm and looking for a role that offers more autonomy, client exposure and progression.

This position would suit someone who enjoys technical private client tax work but also wants to operate in a commercial, relationship-led and advisory-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Strong private client tax experience gained within a Practice firm
  • Experience reviewing personal tax returns and managing compliance deadlines
  • Exposure to private client tax advisory projects would be highly beneficial
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK personal tax, CGT and IHT
  • Experience with trusts, estates, non-dom or international private client matters would be advantageous
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, projects and stakeholders
  • Commercial mindset with a genuine interest in advisory work and long-term client relationships
