We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing across multiple regions, including the UK and Republic of Ireland. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely salary payments for a workforce of over 1,800 employees while maintaining compliance with payroll regulations. The ideal candidate will be proficient in payroll systems, possess strong numerical skills, and demonstrate discretion when handling confidential information. Effective communication and problem-solving abilities are essential, as the role requires interaction with both colleagues and senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist team members with payroll-related queries and decision-making.
  • Verify employee working hours and ensure accurate calculations for payments.
  • Process salaries, including overtime, deductions, and sick leave, using an integrated payroll system.
  • Obtain necessary approvals for salary payments.
  • Distribute electronic payslips and address related inquiries.
  • Handle tax deductions and employee benefits payments.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of salaries, benefit rates, and new employee details.
  • Address payroll-related issues and respond to employee and management queries.
  • Prepare financial reports and payroll summaries for internal use.
  • Manage pension contributions and resolve related concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
  • Oversee payroll processing in the absence of the Payroll Manager.

Essential Criteria:

  • CIPP qualification or a minimum of three years of payroll experience.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, and auto-enrolment procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with payroll software.
  • Experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in line with payroll deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Familiarity with payroll processes in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Understanding of P11D reporting requirements and associated regulations.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding junior team members.
  • Confident decision-making and problem-solving skills.
