About the Job
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working as part of the wider finance team, the Assistant Management Accountant will support the preparation of monthly and annual accounts while providing valuable financial analysis across the business. This is a varied position offering exposure to management accounts, payroll, budgeting, forecasting and manufacturing cost analysis. The successful candidate will also help management understand commercial performance through accurate reporting and analysis of key performance indicators.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Preparing variance analysis and performance reports
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Analysing manufacturing costs and commercial performance
- Processing payroll and supporting pension administration
- Assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management
- Preparing statutory submissions
- Supporting internal and external audit requirements
- Maintaining accurate financial records and controls
- Working with the Management Accountant on cost-reduction initiatives
- Providing financial support to departments across the business
- Completing additional ad hoc duties within the finance function
Your Skills & Experience
- At least two years experience within an accounts or finance environment
- Qualified Accounting Technician, Part-Qualified Accountant or equivalent practical experience
- Good understanding of accounts and financial statements
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
- Confident working independently and meeting tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, professional and commercially minded approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a busy finance team
- Previous experience within manufacturing would be advantageous
- Payroll experience would be beneficial
- Experience using Navision or DeFacto would be advantageous
