Our client is a leading global provider of fund services, corporate, capital markets, private client, and regulatory & compliance solutions. With a strong international presence and reputation for delivering specialist expertise, they are seeking an experienced Head of Payroll to lead and develop their global payroll function.

About the Job

Reporting into senior leadership, the Head of Payroll will take responsibility for the governance, accuracy, and delivery of payroll operations across multiple jurisdictions globally. The successful candidate will oversee both outsourced and in-house payroll providers, ensuring payroll processes are compliant, accurate, and delivered on time. This role will also partner closely with Finance to ensure payroll reporting, reconciliations, forecasting, and controls are maintained to the highest standard, while driving process improvement and supporting systems integration initiatives across the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead global payroll operations across multiple international jurisdictions
  • Ensure compliant, accurate, and timely payroll delivery
  • Manage outsourced and in-house payroll providers
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex payroll matters
  • Maintain payroll governance, controls, audit trails, and reporting accuracy
  • Partner with Finance on journals, reconciliations, forecasting, and planning
  • Drive payroll process improvement and optimisation initiatives
  • Support payroll systems integration and newly acquired business onboarding
  • Oversee vendor management and outsourced payroll partnerships
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team while managing key stakeholders

Your Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience managing international payroll operations
  • Strong understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations, and governance
  • Experience across both outsourced and in-house payroll models
  • Proven leadership and people management experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel and payroll systems experience
  • Excellent communication skills with experience engaging senior stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines
