About the Job
Reporting to the office manager, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all payroll activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the payroll function, including:
- Leading, coaching and developing the payroll team
- Managing NI/GB and international payrolls, including review and sign off
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements relating to payroll, benefits, and expenses
- Managing payroll amendments and preparing payroll files, including executive payroll where required
- Overseeing accurate and timely processing of employee payments
- Maintaining and managing payroll data efficiently
- Ensuring compliance with auto-enrolment pension requirements
- Managing statutory payments and payroll-related risk
- Supporting wider HR and finance operations as required
Previous experience
- Experience mentoring or managing a payroll team
- Strong technical knowledge of NI/GB payroll legislation and employee benefits
- Open to candidates from both industry and practice backgrounds
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong IT skills with experience using payroll systems
- Knowledge of HMRC compliance, statutory payments, and payroll risk management
- Experience with auto-enrolment pension schemes
