About the company:

HireIQ is excited to be partnering with one of our long-standing clients as they grow their External Audit team. Our client is a highly respected practice firm, and this position will be based in the Belfast office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recently qualified accountant with experience working in External Audit, who is ready to take the next step in their career, taking more ownership and responsibility, working closely with the Senior management team.

About the job:

  • Lead and deliver external audit assignments for a varied portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
  • Plan audit engagements, assess key risks, and ensure work is completed in line with relevant professional standards.
  • Prepare audit working papers, statutory financial statements, and supporting documentation.
  • Review the work of junior team members, providing guidance, coaching, and ongoing support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a key contact throughout engagements.
  • Assist with resource planning, workflow management, and initiatives to improve audit processes.
  • Support a range of additional assurance and advisory projects as required, including governance, controls, and financial reporting matters.

About you:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA).
  • Previous external audit experience gained within a professional services environment.
  • Sound understanding of audit and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build client relationships.
  • Well organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach with experience supporting and developing junior colleagues.
