They are now seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant / Head of Accounts to join their finance team within, supporting the Group Finance Manager. This is a key hands-on role offering end-to-end responsibility across all core finance functions within a supportive and collaborative environment. About the Job The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day accounting operations, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This is a role suited to someone who enjoys variety and autonomy, with strong technical accounting knowledge and proficiency in Sage 50 and Sage Payroll. Key Responsibilities: Manage full accounts function to trial balance including prepayments, accruals, and WIP Prepare and post monthly journals, maintaining accurate financial records Complete bank reconciliations (GBP & EUR) Oversee purchase and sales ledgers and process VAT and RCT returns Support month-end and year-end close processes and assist with external audits Prepare management reports and assist the Group Finance Manager as required Process payroll using Sage Payroll and ensure compliance with statutory requirements Maintain and update Excel-based reports and reconciliations Your Skills & Experience: Proven experience in a similar Assistant Accountant or Head of Accounts role Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 and Sage Payroll Experience preparing accounts to trial balance Strong understanding of VAT, RCT, and general ledger processes Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reconciliations) Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Strong communication skills and a proactive approach Hours & Benefits: Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time office-based (Belfast) Salary: £34,000 £38,000 per annum (depending on experience) Benefits: Healthcare package, free on-site parking, and exposure to full end-to-end accounting For more information on this confidential opportunity, please contact Ollie Mairs at HireIQ in complete confidence.
