How to prepare for a job interview at HireIQ
✨Know Your Numbers
Brush up on your accounting knowledge, especially around the key responsibilities listed in the job description. Be ready to discuss your experience with monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and VAT reporting. This will show that you’re not just familiar with the terms but can apply them practically.
✨Excel Like a Pro
Since advanced Excel proficiency is a must, make sure you can demonstrate your skills during the interview. Prepare to talk about specific functions or tools you've used in past roles, like pivot tables or VLOOKUPs. If possible, bring examples of reports you've created to showcase your abilities.
✨Communicate Clearly
You’ll need to engage with non-finance stakeholders, so practice explaining complex financial concepts in simple terms. Think of examples where you’ve successfully communicated financial information to those without an accounting background. This will highlight your communication skills and ability to work within a team.
✨Show Your Ambition
As this role is ideal for someone seeking career progression, be prepared to discuss your long-term goals in accounting. Share how this position aligns with your aspirations and what steps you plan to take to achieve them. This will demonstrate your commitment and enthusiasm for the role.
