This isn't just "another assembly job". You will be leading the team responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and testing high-precision equipment used in mission-critical environments, from military submarines to deep-sea diving and scientific laboratories. You will be the heartbeat of the shop floor. You'll manage a high-performing team of Technicians, ensuring that every piece of equipment leaving the facility meets the exacting standards required to save lives. You will balance hands-on technical expertise (soldering, mechanical assembly, wire looms) with strategic leadership (KPI monitoring, 1-2-1s, and process improvement).
What You'll be Doing:
- Coach and develop your team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Oversee production schedules, ensuring work aligns with SOPs and quality standards.
- Perform independent inspections and verify build/repair phases from receipt to dispatch.
- Drive efficiency through Lean methodologies and the use of ERP systems/data.
- Maintain a gold-standard H&S environment, leading by example with 5S initiatives.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- HNC (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience supervising or leading a team within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong hands-on experience in the assembly, testing, or repair of electronic and mechanical products (soldering and wire looms are essential).
- High attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, safety-critical environment.
- You must have the right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available for this role).
