Uppingham School is a leading coeducational boarding school with 830 pupils and c. 550 staff.

Its business units support academic, pastoral, operational and administrative functions.

Uppingham School Sports Centre (USSC), opened in 2010, is a dualuse facility serving pupils and 1,300 public members.

It includes a 6court sports hall, 25m pool, 60station fitness studio (refurbished 2021), gymnasium, squash courts, dance studios, PE Department and hospitality suite.

USSC employs c. 40 staff and is operated by Uppingham School Enterprises Ltd.

Job Purpose

To provide all visitors with a friendly, efficient and positive experience through excellent customer service, accurate bookings, cash reconciliation and general administration.

  • Manage reception areas, direct visitors and respond to enquiries efficiently.
  • Customer Service
  • Greet all visitors warmly.
  • Handle enquiries promptly.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all activities, offers and programmes.
  • Identify visitor needs and support staff in meeting them.
  • Promote the Sports Centre at all times.
  • Sales
  • Encourage and promote memberships.
  • Pass on external booking enquiries to management.
  • Promote activity schemes, offers and retail items.
  • Administration
  • Answer calls and record information.
  • Assist with social event organisation.
  • Monitor contractor/visitor signin.
  • Complete typing, filing, and general admin.
  • Perform cash reconciliation.
  • Process payments and update membership database.
  • Take messages and pass on appropriately.
  • Manage bookings, including fitness inductions.
  • Maintain tidy reception and complete rota/holiday forms.

  • Previous administration experience.
