A well established manufacturer based in Stoke-on-Trent is looking for a part-time HR Advisor to cover a period of maternity leave. Join a friendly People & Culture team, providing practical, hands-on HR support to managers and employees across the business, with great working hours!
Based onsite in Stoke-on-Trent this HR Advisor role is commutable from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Crewe, Stafford, Congleton, Leek, Stone, Biddulph and surrounding areas.
Salary: £22,000 per annum ( £33,000 FTE ) with a great list of benefits and working 25 hours a week, Mon to Fri, 9:30am to 3:00pm. This is a 12-15 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, allowing for a handover to enable a smooth transition into the role, ideally starting late November or early December.
What you'll be doing
- Giving day-to-day HR advice to managers and employees, making sure policies are applied fairly and consistently
- Supporting the People & Culture Manager with employee relations, including taking notes and advising at disciplinary hearings (up to second written warning level) and redundancy
- Championing wellbeing and family-friendly working, providing welfare support and following up occupational health reports and return-to-work questionnaires
- Keeping HR records accurate and confidential, and tracking KPIs to spot trends and improvements
- Keeping intranet and website content accurate and up to date
What you need to bring
- CIPD Level 5, plus A Level education or equivalent
- Experience in an HR function at a similar level
- Sound knowledge of UK employment law and HR policy, plus awareness of health and safety legislation
- Strong Microsoft Office and analytical skills, with the organisation and attention to detail to juggle competing priorities
- An approachable, empathetic manner and the discretion to handle sensitive matters
