Would you like to join a growing product design and manufacturing business, looking for an IoT integration & Validation Engineer who can bridge the gap between physical products and smart technology? This is a hands-on role covering the specification, sourcing, testing and validation of IoT devices and sensors, making sure connected features work reliably before products reach the market.
Location: Basildon, Essex. Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 plus benefits package. Working arrangement: hybrid, 2 to 3 days in the office per week.
What you'll be doing:
- Specify, source and procure off-the-shelf IoT devices, sensors and hardware systems that meet product requirements.
- Design and run DVT/PVT testing protocols to validate smart technologies under real-world conditions.
- Troubleshoot integration issues across physical, electronic and data interfaces.
- Act as the technical point of contact for hardware suppliers, test labs and manufacturing vendors.
- Track integration milestones, timelines and risks using tools like Jira, Trello or Excel.
- Maintain accurate validation logs, schematics and component specification sheets.
What you need to bring:
- A degree in Electrical, Electronic, Systems or Mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience with IoT devices, electrical &/or embedded systems.
- Proven experience testing, validating and debugging hardware, sensors or connected devices.
- Practical knowledge of wireless protocols such as BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa or cellular.
- Experience specifying and procuring off-the-shelf electronic components.
- Familiarity with compliance standards (CE/UKCA, FCC, IP ratings) or CAD tools like SolidWorks (desirable).
