South West based innovative, technology-driven organisation looking for an experienced AWS / Python Cloud Engineer to help shape the future of their AWS-based infrastructure. You'll work on high-performance, cloud-native applications (in Python) that process large volumes of real-time data, collaborating closely with software, data and DevOps teams to deliver secure, resilient solutions across the AWS stack / services. You'll relish the challenge of creating solutions that impact real-world issues, where you can tangibly see your work impact the environment.

Location: Exeter, hybrid (two office days per week, preferably Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but not necessarily!)

Salary: up to £70,000 basic, plus bonus and benefits package.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable, real-time applications using Python
  • Build cloud-native solutions using AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, SQS and Aurora
  • Deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes, implementing serverless architectures where appropriate
  • Monitor application health and performance using CloudWatch and X-Ray, proactively resolving issues
  • Collaborate with data engineers, DevOps and product teams, and take part in code reviews and Agile ceremonies

What you need to bring:

  • Strong commercial experience building cloud-native applications within AWS, ideally including S3, Lambda, EC2, ECS, SQS and Aurora
  • Expert-level Python development skills
  • Proven experience designing highly available, scalable and resilient software solutions
  • Solid experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Helm, plus Git, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD

Desirable: exposure to Java or C++, or Microsoft Azure data services.
