This is a rare opportunity to join an established, boutique customs operation, recognised as leading experts in private aviation (non-commercial aircraft) and other high-value assets. You will join this friendly, welcoming team as the specialist in Customs Declaration Systems (CDS) supporting complex UK and EU customs activity within a highly regulated, professional services environment.
You will support end-to-end CDS operations and trade compliance, ensuring accuracy, regulatory alignment and continuous improvement across customs processes. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external authorities, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
There is a competitive salary on offer, which is very much negotiable depending on your level of skills and experience in this field. This is a full time, permanent role, based out of offices in central Bishop's Stortford, just a short walk from the train station. Easily commutable from Harlow, Chelmsford, Stevenage, Enfield, Hatfield, etc.
What you will be doing:
- Processing CDS entries, resolving errors and maintaining CDS data
- Supporting UK and EU customs compliance, including UCC and HMRC requirements
- Managing tariff codes, commodity classification and customs procedures
- Supporting Special Procedure and AEO authorisations
- Assisting with audits, CAPAs and regulatory inspections
- Liaising with government bodies and maintaining internal procedures
- Supporting internal training on customs compliance where required
What you need:
- Excellent working knowledge of CDS
- Strong understanding of UK/EU customs rules, export licensing and trade compliance
- Exceptional attention to detail
- A professional qualification (e.g. BIFA, IOE&IT) would be advantageous
- Understanding of business aviation is desirable
- Experience of export controls (including EU, US ITAR/EAR), international trade decision-making, and compliance within aerospace, defence or security environments would be useful for this role.
