We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled manager to lead the engineering function at a busy manufacturing site in Burntisland for one of our key clients. In this role, you will be the driving force behind plant availability, ensuring that all machinery operates at peak performance while maintaining the highest safety standards. As the key interface between production and site leadership, you will manage a dedicated engineering team, oversee contractors, and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the site engineering function to ensure maximum plant availability and safe working practices.
- Managing a team of 1-3 direct reports, providing coaching and professional development.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring site-wide Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Coordinating mechanical and electrical engineering responses to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Enforcing Safe Systems of Work, including full Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures and dynamic risk assessments.
- Analysing breakdown data to identify root causes and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Managing engineering budgets, critical spares stock levels, and external contractors.
What You Need
- A time-served Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- Significant experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong fault-finding capabilities across both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proven experience in leading or managing engineering teams.
- The ability to utilise a data-led approach for decision-making and stock control.
- An HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is highly desirable.
