At Hired By Startups, we’ve partnered with a rapidly scaling social impact startup to hire their first Head of People.
Founded by a serial entrepreneur and unicorn founder, this startup has grown rapidly over the last two years to a team of over 100 people, with plenty more hires planned through 2027.

About the role
As Head of People, you will:
- Own the people strategy as the business scales, building on the values and progression frameworks already in place.
- Lead hiring end to end, raising the bar on how the startup sources, assesses and hires, and opening new routes to hiring.
- Partner with the founders and leadership team on senior hires, succession, org design and workforce planning.
- Build a high-performance culture, with clear expectations, regular feedback and career paths that help great people grow and stay.
- Keep a large, frontline workforce engaged, and give high performers a clear route into specialist and leadership roles.
- Turn managers into confident people leaders, from interviewing well to coaching their teams.
- Run core HR, policy and employee relations, and put the systems and people data in place to keep it all simple as the team grows.
About you
As Head of People, you’ll need:
- 6-10 years in People/HR, ideally in a high-growth startup or scale-up.
- A track record of building culture at pace, backed by results in engagement, retention and internal progression.
- Experience developing an early-career workforce and creating progression pathways that work.
- Experience leading people through significant change, whether rapid growth, restructuring or relocation.
- Breadth across talent, performance, development, engagement and HR operations.
- A bias for improving and scaling what’s already there, rather than designing frameworks for their own sake.
- The credibility to work with founders and frontline teams alike, while staying hands‑on.
As Head of People, you can expect:
- Base salary of £90k-£120k, depending on experience
- Mostly office based (West London), with flex once you’re established in role
