The Role
As a Commercial Specialist, you will support the delivery of commercial activity across key programmes, with a primary focus on contract management and commercial support rather than pure procurement. This role offers exposure to strategic projects, working closely with internal stakeholders to help convert innovative ideas into real business opportunities.
Commercial Specialist Responsibilities:
- Support the full contract lifecycle across key programmes
- Assist with bid activity, commercial input, and documentation
- Support pricing models and cost build-ups
- Contribute to contract management, including change control and risk management
- Lead and support sourcing activities where required (RFQs, ITTs, supplier engagement)
- Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks and internal processes
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, finance, legal, and operations teams
Commercial Specialist Benefits:

Commercial Specialist Requirements:
This role would suit someone who:
- Has 2+ years’ experience within Defence, Aerospace, Public Sector, or a regulated industry
- Has exposure to contract management, commercial activity, or procurement processes
- Is comfortable supporting programme delivery in a commercial environment
- Has strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Is a strong communicator and team player
Desirable:
- Awareness of Procurement Act 2023, SSCR, DEFCONs or DEFSTANs
- Experience with different contract types (e.g. cost plus, firm price, frameworks)
- Exposure to NEC or infrastructure-related contracts
- MCIPS qualification (or working towards)
- SC clearance or eligibility to obtain
