This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, entrepreneurial financial services business operating within the asset-backed lending space. Following a period of change and new leadership coming into the business, the company is entering a significant growth phase with ambitious plans to scale over the coming years. With an established presence across the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands, they are now building out their Manchester operation and strengthening the finance function to support that growth.

This role is far more than a traditional Financial Controller position. The business is looking for someone who can combine strong technical accounting capability with a commercial and proactive mindset, helping leadership use MI, reporting and financial data to better drive performance and decision-making across the wider organisation.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the Group financial control environment, reporting processes and external reporting requirements, whilst also working closely with senior leadership to improve MI, controls, processes and commercial insight across the business. This is a highly visible role with genuine opportunity to influence and shape the finance function as the business scales. The role is Manchester-based, with a strong preference for regular office presence alongside the wider leadership team.

Financial Controller Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the month-end and year-end reporting process across the Group
  • Ensure strong financial controls, governance and external reporting processes are in place
  • Drive improvements across MI, reporting and use of financial data within the business
  • Work closely with leadership to support commercial decision-making and business performance
  • Help build scalable finance processes and infrastructure to support future growth
  • Partner with stakeholders across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands operations
  • Support audit, regulatory and statutory reporting requirements
  • Contribute to the wider financial strategy and operational growth of the business

Financial Controller Benefits:

  • Salary between £80,000 - £90,000
  • Bonus structure with strong earning potential
  • Opportunity to help shape and scale a growing financial services business
  • High visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative and growth-focused culture
  • Genuine opportunity to influence process improvement and business performance

Financial Controller Requirements:

  • This role would suit someone who:
  • Is based in or within commuting distance of Manchester
  • Has previous financial services experience, ideally within lending or asset-backed finance
  • Is technically strong with solid financial control and reporting experience
  • Can demonstrate experience improving processes, controls and MI within a growing business
  • Has strong stakeholder management and business partnering capability
  • Is commercially minded and comfortable operating in a visible, hands-on role
  • Thrives in a scaling, evolving environment rather than a heavily corporate structure
  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent)
