Home-based, with attachment to the relevant depot.

As a Forklift Engineer, you will collaborate with the Service Manager and liaise with Service Controllers to service and repair a variety of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment at customer sites.

Forklift Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults on forklifts and related warehouse equipment.
  • Service and maintain LPG, diesel, and electric-powered forklifts, focusing on preventative maintenance.
  • Repair hydraulic valves, rams, final drive, and gearbox components.
  • Repair and maintain engines and related components.
  • Perform full and partial strip-downs of LPG, diesel, or electric forklifts.
  • Inspect and provide customers with repair quotes in coordination with the Service Manager.
  • Replace oil, filters, and necessary components to ensure optimal forklift performance.
  • Check voltages and gravities of traction batteries using meters and hydrometers.
  • Conduct and report on battery surveys as required.
  • Liaise with the Service Manager and Parts Controller to ensure efficient job completion.
Forklift Engineer Requirements:
  • City and Guilds or BTEC qualification in a relevant field within the materials handling industry, or equivalent qualification/experience in a similar sector.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical engineering background, ideally within forklifts, heavy goods, plant machinery, or automotive industries.
  • Excellent customer-facing skills with the ability to provide professional service at all times.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • If applicable, must hold a valid permit to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised when required.
