Our client is a growing technology services business looking to appoint an Accounts Data Analysis Assistant to join their team on an initial 6-month contract due to increased workload. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data and Excel but also wants to retain exposure to core finance processes. The role combines financial reporting, analysis and business insights with accounts payable and purchasing responsibilities, offering excellent variety and exposure across the wider business.
The Role
Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team, you'll be responsible for extracting, analysing and reporting on financial and purchasing data, helping provide meaningful insights to support business decision-making. Alongside the analytical aspects of the role, you'll also support key accounts payable, reconciliation and purchasing activities to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.
Accounts Data Analysis Assistant Responsibilities:
- Extract, validate and analyse financial and purchasing data from internal systems
- Produce regular reporting including supplier spend analysis, cost trends and purchasing performance
- Identify trends, anomalies and opportunities within financial data
- Support the development of dashboards, reporting packs and management information
- Assist with cost, margin and profitability analysis across products and services
- Process and reconcile supplier invoices, statements and payment accounts
- Support month-end reporting and reconciliation activities
- Manage purchase orders and support purchasing administration activities
- Produce reports and insights to support business and departmental decision-making
- Contribute to process improvements and enhanced financial visibility across the business

Accounts Data Analysis Assistant Requirements:
This role would suit someone who is:
- Experienced within a finance, accounts or administrative environment
- Advanced or highly competent in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and Lookups
- Comfortable analysing data and producing meaningful reports
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Able to identify trends, discrepancies and opportunities within data
- Confident communicating with stakeholders across the business
- Able to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
- Experience using Sage 50 or similar accounting software
- Previous accounts payable or purchase ledger experience
- Experience producing management reports or financial analysis
- Exposure to purchasing or procurement processes
