We are seeking a dedicated and skilled 2nd Marine Engineer to join our team, playing a vital role in the operation and maintenance of our fleet. About the Role:
As a 2nd Marine Engineer, you’ll oversee the maintenance and operation of our vessels’ mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. You’ll work closely with the Chief Engineer, providing leadership to junior crew members and contributing to the reliability of our fleet, which is essential to our logistics and supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist with the maintenance and repair of main and auxiliary engines, pumps, generators, and other shipboard systems.
- Lead inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to maintain vessel readiness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues swiftly to minimise downtime.
- Support the Chief Engineer in monitoring equipment performance, fuel management, and compliance with operational standards.
- Mentor and guide junior engineering staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Uphold the highest safety standards and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
- Participate in safety drills and emergency response procedures.
Requirements:
- A valid STCW III/2 Certificate of Competency or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Marine Engineer, with prior leadership responsibilities preferred.
- Strong expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- A commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices.
