Are you a town planner considering your next move - whether that’s a new challenge, a step up, or a change of environment? I’m currently working with multiple private sector planning consultancies across the North West of England and North Wales, with live roles in Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Altrincham, Wilmslow and Preston. These firms vary in size, sector focus, and working style, offering a range of career opportunities tailored to different skills and ambitions.
Current roles include:
- Planner / Senior Planner
- Principal Planner
- Associate / Associate Director
Salaries range from £28,000 to £65,000, depending on experience.
What’s on offer:
- A mix of boutique, regional, and national consultancies with strong project pipelines
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
- Diverse project exposure across residential, commercial, energy, mixed-use, regeneration, green infrastructure, and strategic land
- Full RTPI support and clear progression pathways
- Opportunities to shape teams, mentor junior staff, or take on client leadership responsibilities
Whether you’re more delivery-focused or commercially driven, there’s room for both. Business development-oriented planners will find roles that offer autonomy to grow client relationships, lead bids, and drive new work. DCO / NSIP experience is a real plus point for 2 of these businesses. Delivery-focused planners can thrive in technical, project-led roles with strong team support and long-term development.
Who we’re looking for:
- Town planners from public or private sector backgrounds
- MRTPI chartered or working towards accreditation
- Individuals looking to grow their careers in a consultancy setting, whether through technical delivery or business leadership
