Overview
Technical Service Manager – Location: Redhill • Salary: Up to £52,000
We’re looking for a proactive and technically strong Technical Service Manager to take ownership of UK Government support cases within Commercial Satellite Communication Services (CSCS4). Reporting into the Senior Technical Service Manager, you’ll play a vital role in managing service cases, working closely with MoD teams, field engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure SLA/KPIs are met and customer satisfaction remains at the highest level. This role is hands-on, varied, and requires strong technical knowledge alongside excellent organisational and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage and drive support cases from initial report through to resolution.
- Work closely with MoD engineering and project teams, ensuring effective communication and technical support.
- Coordinate with internal resolver groups and provide senior management briefings.
- Oversee logistical and technical arrangements for service visits, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Support documentation creation, trend tracking, and process improvement initiatives.
- Provide training to 1st and 2nd line support staff, and assist with onboarding of engineers.
- Assist in launching new government services and delivering minor projects as required.
- Ensure sufficient spares management and procurement in line with operational needs.
Requirements
- Royal Navy technical communications experience across COMSAT, MILSAT, MNE, and Message Handling.
- Technical knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, IT networking, and satellite communications.
- Understanding of wider MoD networks across land and sea.
- Ability to hold or obtain DV Security Clearance (essential).
- Strong problem-solving skills, able to prioritise and make independent decisions.
- Excellent communication, customer focus, and stakeholder management abilities.
- ITIL knowledge advantageous.
- Flexible approach with willingness to travel.
