Overview

As we enter a new phase of growth—expanding locations, evolving commercial models, and embedding technology deeper into operations—we’re seeking an IT Manager / Systems Lead to take ownership of IT across the business. This is not a support desk role. It’s a strategic and operational leadership position, responsible for ensuring that technology actively supports execution, drives efficiency, and scales with the business. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of IT infrastructure, systems implementation, operational flow, and data insight—turning fragmented tools and vendors into a coherent, results-driven ecosystem. This person will act as an internal systems translator, ensuring our technology—from Microsoft Dynamics to telematics to Power BI—not only works but delivers results that matter across finance, fleet, sales, and service operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic IT Ownership
    • Act as the internal owner of all IT systems, integrations, and vendors
    • Translate operational goals into IT delivery and infrastructure plans
    • Ensure systems and tools drive measurable outcomes—not just documentation
    • Lead the internal IT agenda, moving from fragmented ownership to aligned, outcome-focused leadership
  • External Vendor & Infrastructure Oversight
    • Manage outsourced IT provider responsible for: Emails, user setup (new starts, leavers), Servers, switches, firewalls, and cybersecurity, On-site support resource (triage and user support)
    • Monitor and manage performance, cost-efficiency, and responsiveness of vendors
    • Serve as the business’s point of accountability for all infrastructure and outsourced IT service relationships
  • Systems Leadership – Microsoft Dynamics Rollout
    • Act as a strategic counterpart to the Project Manager delivering Dynamics rollout
    • Understand how Dynamics integrates with operations (fleet, sales, service, contracts) and proactively ensure fit-for-purpose configuration
    • Long-term owner of Dynamics post-implementation—ensuring the platform delivers ongoing value and operational insight
    • Support integration with additional tools like Power Platform, Jet Reports, and fleet telematics
    • Collaborate with partners such as our Dynamics integrator to manage requirements, testing, and future development
  • Data & Reporting Enablement
    • Work closely with the FP&A Director to streamline and automate business reporting
    • Ensure data integrity and verification as it flows across systems (Dynamics, Power BI, Jet Reports, Telematics)
    • Build and support data infrastructure (including data lakes and self-serve dashboards)
    • Enable predictive and operational reporting across departments
  • Customer-Facing Technology
    • Design and develop a secure online portal for customers to access real-time fleet information
    • Ensure data privacy, system resilience, and protection against cyber threats
    • Embed digital touchpoints that enhance customer experience and improve visibility
  • Operational Integration
    • Ensure every IT decision improves daily operations and enhances performance
    • Embed technology into key workflows, especially in Fleet Maintenance, to support predictive maintenance, automated service tracking, and telematics analysis
    • Improve the experience of frontline teams by streamlining system usage and reducing friction
  • Emerging Tech & Innovation
    • Champion the adoption of AI and automation across fleet, sales, and operations
    • Identify and pilot technology that enhances business insight or customer service
    • Stay on top of evolving best practices in mid-market tech environments and continuously improve internal capabilities
  • Risk Management & Cybersecurity
    • Proactively identify system and data risks across the organisation
    • Implement robust security controls to protect against internal and external threats
    • Ensure compliance with best practices in data protection, system access control, and vendor risk management

Must-Have Experience & Capabilities

  • Strong track record managing business IT environments, systems delivery, and third-party vendors
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent ERP platforms
  • Familiarity with Power Platform, Jet Reports, Power BI, and other Microsoft ecosystem tools
  • Comfortable working across infrastructure, business systems, and reporting tools
  • Experience delivering customer-facing portals or secure digital products
  • Knowledge of data integration, system verification, and interface development
  • Ability to connect systems architecture with business outcomes, especially in fleet-heavy or operational businesses

Personal Traits

  • Ownership mindset
  • Structured and practical: turns ideas into systems and outcomes
  • Collaborative, not siloed: thrives in cross-functional teams
  • Commercially aware, operationally focused
  • Strong communicator and translator between technical and non-technical teams
