- The Work You'll Do
The Principal Solution Architect, Embedded Platforms is a highly strategic technical leadership role focused on shaping how leading software vendors embed Sovos technology into their own products.
Working with some of our most strategic global ISV partners, you will design scalable integration solutions, influence product direction, and act as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders.
This role combines enterprise architecture, product strategy and technical consulting.
You will solve complex integration challenges, shape future platform capabilities, and help drive the next generation of embedded compliance solutions while mentoring other architects across the organization.
- Strategic Solution Architecture
- Lead technical discovery and solution architecture for strategic ISV partnerships, designing scalable embedded compliance solutions that address technical, regulatory and commercial objectives.
- Deliver high-quality solution architecture documentation, integration designs and implementation roadmaps.
- Design enterprise-grade integration architectures leveraging APIs, webhooks, cloud-native technologies and modern architectural patterns.
- Review and recommend API integration approaches including REST APIs, webhooks and event-driven integrations.
- Establish governance and testing frameworks that ensure scalable, secure and reliable partner integrations.
- Technical Leadership & Governance
- Set strategic technical objectives across a diverse portfolio of embedded partnerships.
- Guide the resolution of critical technical challenges impacting strategic partners.
- Establish governance frameworks for partner health monitoring, risk management and integration quality standards.
- Executive Partner Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with Product, Engineering and Compliance leaders across strategic ISV partners.
- Deliver executive presentations, architecture workshops and strategic business reviews.
- Act as the executive technical advisor for Sovos' most strategic embedded partnerships.
- Ensure embedded solutions are well understood across internal Product, Engineering and Go-to-Market teams.
- Product Strategy & Compliance Expertise
- Maintain deep expertise in global tax compliance, ERP ecosystems and indirect tax processes.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Compliance SMEs to ensure continuous knowledge sharing.
- Act as the internal subject matter expert for embedded architectures and ISV integration strategies.
- Influence future product capabilities by providing strategic feedback based on partner requirements, market trends and emerging technologies.
- Strategic Collaboration
- Support strategic pre-sales discovery activities for key embedded partnerships.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Partner Account Managers, Sales Engineers and Compliance teams throughout solution design and delivery.
- Technical Thought Leadership
- Partner with the Head of Embedded Technical Management to shape technical strategy and future direction.
- Represent Sovos at customer events, industry conferences, advisory boards and partner engagements.
- Demonstrate thought leadership across enterprise integration, cloud architecture and tax technology.
- Mentor Solution Architects and promote technical best practices across the organization.
- What We Need from You
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience in product, tax/ERP technology consulting, enterprise software engineering, or similar roles within the software industry.
- Proven understanding of global tax compliance and indirect tax processes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise integration solutions using APIs, webhooks, cloud-native technologies and modern architectural patterns.
- Experience with tax compliance, ERP integration, e-invoicing or regulatory technology platforms. Experience with Sovos solutions is advantageous but not required.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures and enterprise integration principles.
- Previous experience supporting ISVs through solution architecture, technical consulting or strategic partnerships.
- Proven success managing complex technical relationships with enterprise software vendors or strategic technology partners.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior executives and translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working across Product, Engineering, Sales and Customer Success organizations.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10 to 25% for partner engagements, customer meetings and industry events.
