Role Overview
The Senior HV Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the commissioning, testing, and final handover of high voltage electrical systems in alignment with project specifications, organisational requirements, and recognised international standards. The role ensures timely project delivery while maintaining close coordination with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the focal point for all high voltage commissioning activities within a multidisciplinary project team.
- Develop, plan, and execute comprehensive commissioning strategies, procedures, and timelines for HV systems.
- Contribute to the project completion management system, ensuring accurate documentation across mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover stages.
- Liaise with operations teams to facilitate seamless system transfer and readiness for operational use.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex electrical issues encountered during commissioning phases.
- Supervise calibration, functional testing, and performance validation of electrical equipment and systems.
- Maintain detailed documentation including progress reports, testing records, and punch lists.
- Uphold and promote Health, Safety, Environment, and Operational Integrity (HSEOI) standards, ensuring strict compliance across all activities.
- Provide commissioning expertise during the detailed design phase to ensure readiness for efficient execution, system handover, and project close-out.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering (HNC, HND, or equivalent academic qualification).
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience across electrical design, installation, and commissioning within the onshore oil and gas sector.
- Strong familiarity with international standards, industry codes, and certification requirements.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Proven capability in managing complex commissioning activities within large-scale industrial projects.
