A well-established private doctors practice, located in Chelsea, is one of the leading General Practices in the UK. Their dedicated, friendly, and stable team is committed to delivering exceptional service and ensuring continuity of care for their patients. They collaborate closely with top hospitals and consultants in London, fostering an environment that supports both professional growth and a positive, collaborative workplace culture. They are now looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to join the team, supporting their senior Doctors.

SALARY ETC:

  • £18ph to £20ph
  • Hours: 8:30am-6pm Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week.
  • Temporary, start 1st July for 2 to 3 weeks (Sickness cover)
  • Chelsea, London
  • This is an office based role, with no hybrid or wfh, due to the nature of the operation and requirements of the Doctors and patients alike.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a medical secretary in the private sector in London is required, ideally with some in a general practice.
  • AMSPAR or Pittman preferable but not an absolute requirement.
  • Good understanding of medical terminology and computer literacy, proficient with all Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and at least one of the mainstream medical software suites used in private practice.
  • Personable and warm character able to work in an open office environment with other staff, with a bright and positive approach.
  • Multitasking and working under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and confidence in dealing with demands and expectations of a wide variety of patients.
  • Experience in audiotyping at 65wpm.
  • Strong attention to detail, accurate typing and proof-reading skills.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Liaising with patients, hospitals and consultants.
  • Interacting/liaising with patients face-to-face, and dealing with telephone enquiries.
  • Booking patients in for appropriate GP appointments & arranging hospital admission for patients.
  • Arranging tests and investigations when requested, and chasing pathology and radiological results/reports.
  • Taking prescription requests and preparing for doctor review Message System.
  • Accurate recording of messages using the messaging system for each doctor.
  • Ensuring prioritisation of messages when appropriate.
  • Dealing with email and paper correspondence.
  • Organising incoming doctor correspondence and ensuring prioritisation of these.
  • Scanning of correspondence into patient notes.
  • Audiotyping and processing of referral letters/patient notes, as well as Doctors’ general diary management.
  • Maintain doctor’s clinical areas.
  • Ensure clinical rooms are adequately stocked.
  • Invoicing and taking payments, and creating invoices and processing payments.
  • Reviewing and sending invoices to patients and insurance companies.
  • Work in a team with the other medical secretaries and practice coordinator to cover their work when on leave.
