This professional membership company / trade association is looking for someone who enjoys travelling and has an engineering background, as well as account management/business engagement and sales experience with a consultative selling technique determining member/prospective member pinch points and providing solutions to them that are within the scope of the company's services.

The appointed person will operate to protect and grow strategy, keep existing members in membership while also growing business through the development of new and lapsed members from their identification through to sign-up. You will also be responsible for ensuring the self-efficient sales team are meeting expected targets and member visits. You will be on the road for 3-4 days per week and happy to cover the North (including Northern Ireland & Scotland), as well as a once a month meeting in London.

SALARY ETC:

  • £65k to £80k OTE
  • £8k car allowance, mileage & expenses.
  • Optional Private Healthcare, Pension contribution, 25 days annual leave, paid sick leave and maternity and wellbeing programme.
  • Can be based anywhere, but will need to cover the North of the UK, including NI and Scotland.
  • Permanent, full-time
  • Monday to Friday, mainly office based hours, although should be flexible when exhibitions are on or members/potential members are unable to meet within office hours.
  • Start: ASAP, although happy to wait for the right person.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience as a Sales Manager, with an engineering or manufacturing background.
  • Must have own transport and enjoy travelling (willing to cover the North of the UK, NI & Scotland). Also happy to attend a monthly meeting in London.
  • To have a consultative selling technique, determining member/prospective member pinch points and providing solutions to them that are within the scope of services.
  • To be self-sufficient and motivated, with excellent communication and organisational skills, able to relate and communicate with professionals within the industry.
  • Should be happy to attend the trade exhibitions and shows, representing the membership company.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • To drive new business, selling membership to relevant companies within the industry sector, in your given territory.
  • To manage and develop relationships with existing members, as well as sell and promote membership services to member companies.
  • To sell stand space for the industry exhibition, and sell sponsorship to exhibition exhibitors.
  • Visit members face to face, flexed to support the sales effort.
  • Advising senior management on maximising business relationships and creating an environment where customer service can flourish.
  • To produce detailed reports as required and on time, and update CRM records daily.
  • To keep up to date with developments in the industry and to make recommendations.
  • Maximise member value from membership, regularly visit members, encourage members to use services they aren’t using which you feel would be beneficial to them.
  • Feedback member comments to the CEO and assist the management team in improving the services.
  • Update the CRM system with information gathered.
  • Use New Business leads to sell Membership & Services to potential members and assist in growing Members, liaising with Accounts and the Head of Operations to ensure Membership Debt is actively checked and resolved in a timely manner.
  • You will be required to manage all customer information updates and amendments via the CRM and customer contact.
