This is an opportunity for an experienced Maintenance person (multi-trader) to join a small friendly team within a leading housing and supported living organisation for vulnerable adults who suffer from mental health and live in a supported housing environment. It would suit someone from a Hotel, Hospital, Care Home type background, with hands-on experience and qualifications, and an ethos of continuous improvement to achieve exceptional high standards.
Salary: Β£38k to Β£42k + excellent benefits such as enhanced holidays, academic support and career progression, good pension scheme, referral scheme, employee support programme.
Full-time role, 37.5 hours per week in the Catford / Lewisham area of London, with visits to other sites within the London area for projects. Working hours are 8:30am β 5pm Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call responsibilities (very rare and an additional allowance is paid for this). Permanent, full-time.
Requirements:
- Full rights to work in the UK β no sponsorship available.
- A clean driving licence and daily access to your own vehicle, which you are happy to use for work (mileage paid for when visiting sites).
- Trade-related qualification, such as carpentry or plumbing, etc.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a hands-on role, or a minimum of 5 yearsβ experience in a trade with a high level of demonstrable competency.
- Experience investigating maintenance issues.
- Strong written and verbal command of the English language.
- Self-motivated and able to use own initiative to find solutions, work to tight deadlines, and prioritise a varied workload.
- Warm and friendly demeanour with a positive and open-minded attitude.
- A genuine desire to make a difference and help disadvantaged individuals to live meaningful and purposeful lives.
Duties to include:
- Responsible for maintenance and repair tasks across all properties, including internal and external communal and office areas, as well as resident units.
- Complete projects including refurbishments of offices and resident units as required.
- Perform basic carpentry, basic electrics, basic plumbing, tiling of small areas, plastering, and painting.
- Undertake all routine maintenance tasks and minor general repair work.
- Assist staff with moving and assembling furniture as requested.
- Ensure regular checks, repairs or upgrades are made in communal areas and property units.
- On a monthly basis undertake the checks of the housekeeping folders, including statutory testing such as taps water temperature, and keep accurate and up-to-date housekeeping records.
- Maintain good standards in properties grounds; keep drains and gutters clear from leaves and rubbish.
- Supervise gardener work and highlight areas of improvement to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Help to prepare and assist with accommodation inspections and audits on a regular basis.
- Report all specialist jobs β such as fire-related issues, CCTV, major electrical & plumbing issues, leaks, refurbishments β to the Maintenance Supervisor, who will be responsible for them.
