This professional Industry Membership & Event Organisation is the representative body in the UK for its members. The organisation provides services to support its members and provides joint representation to Government and other organisations to support the growth and development of the sector. Due to the retirement of the current post holder, they are now looking for someone to join the small team as a Market Intelligence Officer & Data Analyst. This would be a great opportunity for a graduate or second jobber, with lots of potential to learn from the current post holder before they retire, whilst at the same time being open to those who may have a little more experience.
SALARY ETC: £28k to £35k, depending on experience. Permanent, full-time. Can either be office based, or hybrid working, with Mondays and Fridays WFH. Working hours are generally Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00, however they can vary/be flexible working the same number of hours between 08:00-18:00. Central West London.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have full right to work in the UK (Unable to sponsor).
- To be a graduate with a relevant degree, or equivalent experience, that demonstrates analytical skills and numeracy.
- Must have completed relevant modules in statistical analysis and economics.
- Should demonstrate an enquiring mind and have a passion for turning data into powerful, actionable information for our members and the organisation.
- Must be confident in using analytical software. As a minimum, a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required including data analytics and charts.
- Happy with international travel (about 3 or 4 trips a year, of about 4 or 5 nights at a time).
- Will need to be enthusiastic, who enjoys working under his or her own initiative.
- This is a small organisation, therefore the person must enjoy working in a small team and demonstrate the flexibility to help others where needed.
- Must have strong communication skills, both written and orally and be confident to make presentations.
- IT literate is essential.
JOB DETAILS:
A pivotal role in the organisation, the Market Intelligence Officer is responsible for delivering focussed, relevant and timely market and economic statistics for its members. A significant responsibility is the analysis and interpretation of economic data that influence the industry market and will be most relevant to the members. A key requirement will be the communication of market intelligence information in a clear and accessible format. This will be through routine updates of data available on-line through the website, digital platforms and through regular reports to members.
As well as using published economic data, the organisation organises its own regular surveys and data collection. The Market Intelligence Officer is responsible for organising these surveys, analysing the results and reporting to members. The organisation also contracts Oxford Economics to prepare a UK Forecast, which is a major service for its members. The Market Intelligence Officer is responsible for this relationship and works closely with Oxford Economics in providing the data for the forecast and organising an annual seminar and update on the forecast results.
As a key function, the Market Intelligence Officer will report directly to the CEO. A significant part of the role involves building and maintaining relationships with similar trade associations in other countries to help further the industry as a whole. You will undertake around 3 or 4 international trips a year - Majority are Europe with a stay between 1 night & 4 nights, dependant on event. An occasional US trip will also be involved and trips are always planned well ahead.
