The position entails leading and overseeing medium-risk projects to enact business transformations in alignment with the Corporate Plan. The role involves guiding projects from inception to successful completion. Our Employer seeks a Project Manager with expertise in software rollouts, with a primary focus on testing and launching Windows 11 as the successor to Windows 10 across our organization\’s infrastructure. Additionally, you may be tasked with coordinating concurrent smaller software-related projects, such as implementing a new recruitment applicant tracking system.

As a Backend Engineer, your primary role will be to design and implement robust, scalable backend solutions using Java and associated technologies. You\’ll work in collaboration with product managers, frontend developers, and other key stakeholders to deliver top-notch software solutions.

Your passion for backend development, strong grasp of Java principles, and up-to-date knowledge of current trends and best practices in backend development will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities

• Governance – Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision‑making processes.
• Assurance – Offer support or establish appropriate project assurance measures.
• Change Management – Ensure effective Change Management processes are implemented to agree upon and document changes to deliverables as per stakeholder agreement.
• Guidance & Support – Seek suitable support, guidance, and coaching from the project community. Demonstrate commitment to personal development and foster effective individual and team performance.
• Project Performance & Controls – Develop a Project Plan and apply suitable project principles to achieve stated objectives. Establish appropriate Project Controls and monitor and report delivery progress against milestones.
• Delivery – Spearhead the project to achieve the agreed‑upon outcomes within the set time, budget, and quality parameters.
• Project Management – Provide day‑to‑day management and leadership to the project and project team. Establish project controls and design an appropriate project structure for each stage. Choose and apply suitable delivery methodologies.
• Business Case – Facilitate the development of the Business Case.
• Budget – Monitor project delivery within the allocated budget.
• Resources – Plan and manage resources to execute the project, whether independently or with a small team.
• Benefits Realisation – Ensure identification, understanding, measurement, tracking, and ownership of benefits. Establish an appropriate Benefits Realisation Strategy and monitor the long‑term delivery of benefits against the Business Case.
• Stakeholder Management – Identify key stakeholders and cultivate effective relationships.

Skills & Experience

• Prince2 Practitioner and/or APM (Association for Project Management) Certificate or equivalent project‑related experience.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering a project using standard procedures and methodologies.
• Proven ability to manage issues and propose solutions through formal and informal channels, ensuring effective outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple activities and work streams, managing changing demands and priorities to fulfill customer requirements or business benefits.
• Excellent communication skills, with a track record of successful collaboration with stakeholders to deliver Business Change.

Experience:

• Understanding of RESTful APIs and backend integration.
• Knowledge of backend build tools and dependency management.
• Experience with Docker and ACR, including building and deployment.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes on Azure (AKS).
• Skilled in version control, particularly Git.
• Effective communication skills and teamwork abilities.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks.
• Experience with frontend technologies and API design is beneficial.
• Familiarity with JUnit and other testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
