The recently funded BBSRC network Helminth Eco-Health Hub UK aims to unite multidisciplinary scientists across disciplines, expertise, and career-stages to drive innovative and impactful research in helminth parasitology. The Network will:

  • advance scientific knowledge to address global helminth disease and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals;
  • train next-generation researchers;
  • enhance researcher mobility;
  • engage stakeholders;
  • influence policy.

The Research Network Coordinator will lead the delivery of Network-funded projects and support the strategic development of the Helminth Eco-Health Hub. Working with internal and external partners, the role will coordinate research activities, communications, and operations to advance a diverse portfolio of helminth research initiatives.

The Research Network Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing Network-funded research projects, supporting strategic planning, and ensuring effective delivery of the Helminth Eco-Health Hub’s objectives. Key duties include overseeing research administration and operations, facilitating collaboration across partner institutions, managing communications through digital and media platforms, and promoting the Hub’s diverse portfolio of helminth research initiatives.

Experience and understanding of the UK helminth research environment is essential for this role. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in supporting and advancing collaborative helminth research within a growing, cross-institutional network.

About the person:

  • Hold a BSc in Biological Sciences, Zoology, or a related life sciences subject.
  • Have, or be about to obtain (within 3 months), a PhD in helminth parasitology.
  • Demonstrate relevant experience in helminth parasitology research in the UK.
  • Have demonstrable ability to manage research projects, oversee resources, collaborations, data, budgets and deadlines.
  • Have a proven track record of developing, planning and delivering successful and creative science-focused communications and multi-channel campaigns for a range of audiences.
  • Have sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in helminth parasitology and of research methods and techniques to enable them to work within established and developing research/networking programmes.
  • Have relevant knowledge of the field including key leaders in the helminth biology research themes.
  • Demonstrate experience in organising scientific meetings/large networking events.
