Join the Heart of the Action at The Hippodrome Casino! Are you a hardworking and dedicated team player? We are looking for a reliable Steward to join the Heliot – Paddy’s department and become a crucial part of our dynamic culinary operations.
The Package & Role
Pay Rate: £12.75 per hour + service charge (Expected total package up to £16.00 per hour). Reporting directly to the Stewarding Manager, you will be the backbone of our kitchen and front-of-house operations. As a Steward, you will execute efficient dishwashing services and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across all kitchen and staff canteen areas. You will be responsible for the thorough cleaning and sanitization of kitchens and heavy equipment, as well as the correct handling, storage, and disposal of waste at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment efficiently by hand or using commercial dishwashing machines.
- Support active kitchen operations by safely transporting clean crockery, utensils, and equipment to required service areas during busy service periods.
- Clean and sanitize all food preparation areas, including the raw preparation area, pastry section, larder, main kitchen front and back lines, Paddy's Kitchen, and the 24-hour kitchen.
- Keep the three main kitchen corridors and all back-of-house walkways clean, clear, and safe.
- Carry out deep cleaning of heavy kitchen equipment, including fryers, ovens, grills, salamanders, and extraction systems.
- Perform thorough cleaning underneath and behind all heavy kitchen equipment, alongside scheduled deep cleaning of walk-in refrigerators and freezers using approved chemicals.
- Carry out floor scrubbing, mopping, degreasing, and general cleaning throughout all kitchen and back-of-house areas.
- Carry out the daily cleaning of the staff canteen, ensuring a clean environment for the team, which includes a mandatory emptying of canteen bins every two hours.
- Ensure all cleaning chemicals are handled, stored, and used safely in strict accordance with COSHH regulations and company procedures.
Who We Are Looking For
- Safety Focused: You must maintain full familiarity with current Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, COSHH, and EHO regulations, ensuring procedures are followed at all times.
- Proactive Communicators: You are required to report any maintenance issues, hygiene gaps, pest control concerns, equipment defects, or Health & Safety concerns immediately to the Stewarding Manager or Senior Chefs.
- Brand Ambassadors: You must maintain excellent personal presentation and hygiene standards, embracing The Hippodrome's vision and values, and recognizing that you represent the casino while on duty and in uniform.
- Flexible Team Players: You will support the wider kitchen team by ensuring assigned duties are completed efficiently, and you must be willing to undertake ad-hoc tasks or projects as requested to meet the operational needs of the business.
