Hippo is a rapidly growing digital consultancy passionate about building and delivering transformative digital solutions for a diverse range of Public and Private sector clients. We are recruiting for an Intermediate Content Designer to support our mission. As an Intermediate Content Designer, you will play an important role in making Hippo the best Consultancy out there. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team combining data, design, product, delivery, analysis and engineering to deliver bespoke digital services that make a positive and meaningful impact on organisations and society.
Your Role in a Nutshell:
- Write and iterate clear, concise content for digital services, ensuring it follows style guides and accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Participate in user research and use findings to map out content journeys that reduce user effort.
- Collaborate with interaction designers to decide on the best format for content (e.g., text, video, toolkits, or interactive components).
- Facilitate 'content crits' to gather feedback and ensure high standards across the team.
- Manage end-to-end content production, from initial draft to stakeholder approval and publishing.
About the Candidate:
Essential Experience:- Proven experience in content design or copywriting within an Agile delivery environment.
- Ability to take complex jargon or legal requirements and simplify them for a general audience.
- Experience using evidence from user research and web analytics to guide content decisions.
- Strong understanding of accessibility and how to write for screen readers and neurodivergent users.
- Experience working on public sector projects following GDS (Government Digital Service) standards.
- Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML.
- Experience contributing to a content community of practice or style guide development.

Location:
We are headquartered in Leeds and have offices across the UK in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Bristol. Candidates must be located within reasonable travelling distance from one of our offices. Depending on the dynamic nature of a consulting business, you may be required to work on-site at a Hippo office or at an in/out-of-town client location for a number of days per week (client dependent) and therefore candidates will need to be open/flexible to travel and working on one of those sites at least 2 days per week. We offer a generous relocation support package of up to £8,000.
