Hippo Staffing Solutions are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager / Residential Children's Home Manager to lead a Children's Residential Home in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for an established Registered Manager who wants to shape a therapeutic, family-style environment for young people aged 11-16 and contribute to the development of future homes and services.
As the Registered Manager, you will take full responsibility for the operational leadership of the home, ensure Ofsted compliance, manage and develop the staff team, and deliver exceptional child-centred care. We are searching for a strong, confident leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has exceptional safeguarding knowledge, and is driven to improve outcomes for vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities (Registered Manager/Children's Home Manager)- Operational Leadership & Home Management
- Provide full operational leadership to ensure the home meets all Ofsted requirements and Children's Homes Regulations.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the home, maintaining a safe, nurturing, therapeutic setting.
- Develop a positive, family-orientated ethos for children and young people.
- Lead on care planning, behaviour management, safeguarding, and risk assessments.
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of Deputy Managers, Seniors, and Residential Support Workers.
- Build and maintain a positive, high-performance culture within the home.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance management.
- Deliver regular reflective supervisions and appraisals.
- Ensure the home remains fully compliant with legislation, Ofsted frameworks, and organisational policies.
- Prepare the service for Ofsted inspections and respond effectively to any recommendations.
- Develop and review personalised care plans tailored to each young person's needs.
- Ensure children have access to education, therapeutic services, health support, and meaningful activities.
- Promote life skills, emotional resilience, and independence for young people.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers, health professionals, local authorities, and families.
- Represent the home at professional meetings, reviews, and statutory panels.
- Manage the home's budget, staffing rotas, and resources.
- Ensure safe staffing levels and consistent continuity of care.
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Residential Children's Home Manager, or Deputy Manager within a Children's Home.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards).
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience working within Ofsted-regulated settings.
- Proven experience managing teams, rotas, budgets, and quality assurance systems.
- A deep passion for improving the lives of young people.
- Salary £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience
